Colorado Chiropractic On-Line Discussion Group

Dear Colorado Doctor of Chiropractic:
  Staying connected to your chiropractic colleagues is a challenge.  The Colorado Chiropractic Yahoo On-Line Discussion Group invites you to join an on-line community of enthusiastic DCs who provide a forum for new ideas, share practice advice, and build strong inter-professional relationships. 

 

It’s EASY to join the group:

Step 1:  Go to:  http://groups.yahoo.com/

Step 2:  On top you'll see, New User? "Sign-Up".  Click on it and create a new account. Save user name and password.

Step 3:  Go to:  http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/cochiro/  Click on:  “JOIN THIS GROUP”.  YOU MUST GIVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO BE VERIFIED BEFORE YOU WILL BE APPROVED FOR MEMBERSHIP:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your current, active practice location 
  3. Your license number (if you are a CA, we will need your doctor's license number) 

Step 4: Add cochiro@yahoogroups.com to your email contacts so emails will be delivered to your inbox.
Step 5: Select Message Delivery Options as “daily digest” option if you prefer to have one summary email per day.

Following are the rules governing the on-line discussion group:

 

Colorado Chiropractic Yahoo Group Version 2007

Purpose:
This is a PUBLIC, moderated group open to doctors of chiropractic to discuss issues relevant to chiropractic practice, chiropractic unity, and business of chiropractic healthcare in COLORADO.  Private solicitations from vendors is strictly prohibited.

General Rules:

  1. Take private conversations off list as soon as possible.
  2. Be civil or your posts will be deleted prior to posting. Repeat offenses will result in removal from the list. 
  3. Solicitations for personal gain or commercial endorsement are not allowed, however chiropractic organizations (CCA, CCWA, CCS) may post notices to this group within the scope of encouraged topics.
  4. This list is in no way affiliated with any chiropractic governing body and has no regulatory oversight by any association or group nor does it reflect the opinion of any governing body or individual member of the list.  The list moderators and list creator assume no responsibility for the content or opinions of individuals of this group.
  5. Statements made on this list serve are in the spirit of constitutionally guaranteed free speech, not a forum for personal attacks, collusion against insurance companies, or market price fixing.

    9. Improving compliance to our scope of practice and ethical guidelines.
    10. Chiropractic equipment for private sale (this excludes commercial vendor solicitations and non-clinical solicitations like time-shares, MLM, etc).
Disallowed Content:

 Anti-trust, price fixing, collusion statements from one provider to another suggesting specific action towards one insurance carrier relating to fees charged for services. Give the group a factual explanation of the problem and a solution on how we can minimize the impact of an adverse policy on our patients.


1. Allowed example:

        1. I dropped my contract with ___________ because they were threatening me with termination if my average number of patient visits didn’t drop below 5.2 for lumbar facet syndrome. I want my peers to know this is occurring.
        2. I fixed this ______ problem by emailing a letter from my office to the patient’s human resources director because the Division of Insurance had no jurisdiction.
        3. Stay out of managed care.
        4. _____________ pays $48 for 98941 out of network.
          (This may against your own contract terms with that carrier but is not collusion) 

2. Disallowed example:

        1. I ask my peers to not accept less than $48 for 98941 on your new contract with ____________________.
        2. We all need to drop our __________ contract until this fee schedule and bundling problem improves.
    1. Unsupported complaints without offering a practical, legal solution.
    2. Promotion of a specific technique, seminar, practice management group, product supplier, or other forms of unsolicited self or business affiliate promotion.
    3. Personal attacks and harmful gossip.
    4. Requests for a regulatory agency or trade organization to act on your concern. You need to contact and/or show up at that agency or association meeting and present your request in person.

NEW RULES effective 7-30-07

The Colorado Board of Chiropractic Examiners met on 5-10-07 regarding several proposed rules including Rule 22 and Rule 10.  
These new rules are effective on 7-30-07.

    Now, it’s even easier to get your CE hours.  The Colorado Chiropractic Association is rolling out ON-LINE video viewing for Colorado CE hours.  Earn hours up to six with our handy on-line access to two different educational videos. 
    (Remember, in Colorado only 10 of your 15 hours each year may be on-line and/or video.)
