Dear Colorado Chiropractors,

We have received concerned calls from our members about the rumors that have been going around in light of some of the recent events in Colorado. We acknowledge this creates questions amongst chiropractors and would like to address some of the concerns below.

To dismiss any rumors that may be going around, the CCA is well above budget for the year to date and is showing a greater net income compared to this time last year. Our new Executive Director respects contributions from our membership through their dues and prefers a more conservative approach while not sacrificing valuable services for your membership.

A major topic of discussion has been surrounding the resolutions that were passed at the Annual Business Meeting on September 11, 2015. These resolutions were adopted by the membership as an acceptable standard of care, not the only standard of care. The official standard of care is set by the state of Colorado, not a state association. The resolutions are in no way meant to discourage diversity in practice. Currently a taskforce has been assigned to review, refine, and clarify the resolutions so they become official position statements of the CCA. The CCA stands by and holds true that as long as a chiropractor is legally and ethically practicing chiropractic as defined by the Colorado Practice Act, we support you and your practice.

Please remember what our scope allows us to do. We are able to practice dry needling, electrotherapy, adjust extremities, perform DOT physicals, treat animals, perform PPE physicals, hold an acupuncture certification under our chiropractic license, physiotherapies and more! Chiropractors have the unique ability to practice how you choose, whether your practice includes the aforementioned therapies or not, you are able to make that choice. There are many other states who are still fighting these battles the CCA has already won!

Our lobbying team is working at the Capitol for you on a daily basis. We are the only state association representing chiropractors in Colorado. The CCA hired Mike Beasley of 5280 Strategies many years ago to represent chiropractors. Mr. Beasley continues to fight and protect our scope at the Capitol so you don’t have to! Right now legislative session is underway. We know and can trust Mr. Beasley in representing our members and in Colorado.

The structure of our board give us the capability to have regional representation. This gives us the opportunity to bring education and district meetings to the furthest regions of the state making sure you are heard. Our volunteer district directors are here to represent you. We continue to bring you a diverse range of speakers, from Dr. James Chestnut presenting the scientific evidence behind wellness practices, to Dr. Don Aspegren presenting a hands on workshop on integrative chiropractic care in sports and rehabilitation. In the past we have supported seminars related to functional rehabilitation, technique, philosophy and functional medicine programs. Please visit the Calendar of Events on our website to see what speakers are coming to Colorado!

We continue to grow our member benefits so that you are receiving value in your membership. We have doubled our member benefits from this time last year and are continuing to add more. Please let us know if there is something you would like to to see and our membership committee can look into making it happen for you!

The CCA works very closely with COCSA (the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations) to bring support and resources from other states to Colorado. We are working to increase the public’s knowledge about what chiropractors do. If you are not a part of HealthyUSA2020, please join! It is free to all chiropractors across the nation. HealthyUSA2020 brings resources to your website and social media platforms to educate the public. The more the public knows about what chiropractic can do, the more patients we can serve.

Our state association is staffed by chiropractors, just like you! They work hard everyday for you! Dr. Beckers and Dr. Wendt are here to answer questions, support you and your business and refer patients straight to your door!

Having our association manned by doctors who have worked, or are working in the field, gives us a unique perspective. They can relate to you and your business and are unquestionably chiropractic supporters who are adjusted on a regular basis.

Your Board of Directors, staff and lobbying team work hard everyday to protect your scope. This give you more time to focus on your practice and patients. We understand reimbursement is one of the major concerns of chiropractors in Colorado – know that we continuing to fight for you.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the CCA directly for clarification. The CCA is the longest standing Colorado state association that has been around for 99 years and will continue to be here to serve you! However you choose to practice, we are here to support you as a united front.
