Colorado Chiropractic Association Presidential Update

DENVER, CO - May 11, 2020 - At the Colorado Chiropractic Association (CCA), we have never been more acutely aware that many chiropractors operate as solo practitioners or small businesses who may feel more isolated than large group practitioners. While we are not the licensing board, which regulates and enforces the rules and regulations for the profession, the CCA continues to serve as a bridge and information link to our chiropractic community. We are working diligently to provide the most up-to-date guidance to chiropractors during these times.

In case you’ve missed it, we’ve created a few resource pages, which are available right on our homepage under “Latest News”. We are constantly updating these sites as more information and resources become available. A few member only items include a customizable office procedure manual, a customizable template letter for patients of chiropractors and a checklists for DCs, to name a few. We have partnered with many organizations, both local and national, to bring you webinars specifically related to COVID-19 and ways to continue business. If you are in need of PPE, there is a list of suppliers listed on our “Safer at Home” article on our website. CCA staff remains available remotely for the remainder of this week and continues to field your questions on a daily basis.

Throughout March and April, our Executive Committee held multiple meetings to discuss and address current issues, Colorado executive orders and public health orders. Through our lobbying team, we have remained in constant communication with the Governor’s office, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, the Department of Regulatory Agencies and other professional associations in an attempt to get the answers you have been asking, however the answers we were seeking were not always presented.

As we move forward to the next phase, we will continue to monitor the state of Colorado and chiropractic, including how the pandemic will impact continuing education and the 2020 legislative session. In 2018 we partnered with a new learning management software to more easily bring you online and distance learning. This has equipped us with the technology needed should there be changes to our education options this year.

Our main legislative focus remains protecting the Chiropractic Sunset Bill, HB20-1210, to ensure its success and the renewal of the chiropractic practice act. We have been working on this for the last 2 years, preparing for its effective passing, but during this unprecedented trial it has been held up. As you may know, the legislative session is currently on hold, however we anticipate the session will resume before the end of 2020. We will continue to navigate the legislative session with our lobbying team and attorneys. To learn more about the Chiropractic Sunset bill, visit https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/hb20-1210

As a part of a nation-wide movement, we hope you will join us in the first annual ChiroCares day on May 19, 2020. Chiropractic State Associations across the nation are participating in different events that give back to their local communities during the global COVID19 pandemic.

"The Foundation 4 Chiropractic Progress Executive Vice President Dr. Sherry McAllister states, “The F4CP is proud to stand alongside ChiroCongress and assist in its launch of National ChiroCares Giving Back Day this May, especially during a time when a bit of extra help for our nation is so desperately needed. Doctors of chiropractic are trained to focus on general health and well-being, and now more so than ever before, the chiropractic profession is working to shine a light of positivity on its neighbors. We must all do our part to stay safe and healthy, and the F4CP is looking forward to being a part of this great initiative!”

The CCA has chosen to participate in a virtual food drive. For more information and how to donate, visit https://www.coloradochiropractic.org/page/ChiroCares2020.

Finally, we look forward to celebrating 125 years of chiropractic with you at our fall convention on October 23-25, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency in Aurora, CO. As always, we thank our members, who continue to support not only the CCA, but our colleagues during this challenging time.  This is a difficult time for everyone in our profession and our patients as well, let’s stick together to support each other so we can provide the care that is needed to the people of Colorado.

Sincerely,

Doug Jones, DC

CCA President
